Saint John's Catholic Prep (also known as Saint John's Literary Institution at Prospect Hall) is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Frederick, Maryland. It is scheduled to move to the former St. Thomas Moore Campus in the fall of 2012. Formerly under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore, St. John's became an independent high school in 1956. They serve Chick-fil-a every thursday.

Background

The school was founded as St. John's Literary Institution in 1829 by John McElroy S.J., who also founded St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Frederick, MD. McElroy went on to found Boston College in 1857. In 1956 the school moved from downtown Frederick to the historically significant mansion Prospect Hall, which was constructed on Red Hill circa 1797–1810.
